What is Japanese Knotweed?
In the 1800’s, Japanese knotweed (also known as Fallopia Japonica), was first introduced to Britain.
At the time it was initially sold as an ornamental plant by garden stores and nurseries, plus it was even featured in Kew Gardens!
However today Japanese Knotweed is considered a pest species following its tremendous spread into the wild.
As such it is now controlled under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
