What is a Japanese Knotweed Survey?

Japanese Knotweed is a plant that is not native to the United Kingdom. It is classed as an invasive plant, and is governed by legislation and is seen as a risk to property.

Correct disposal of invasive non-native species plant material is vital in order to avoid the risk of spreading the species beyond the site/location.

If knotweed is found within a properties boundary, or close - within 7 metres, even on an adjacent property, then the property is considered to be affected and will require a Japanese Knotweed eradication package.

If a property that you are selling or buying has had Japanese Knotweed identified as a problem then it is advisable to request a survey and report on the extent of the Japanese Knotweed issues. A survey from Elcot will confirm the Japanese Knotweed problem, the locations and extent of the risk and provide a full management plan for its eradication.
